How It Works – The Nanny Search Process

Please contact with your interest!  You can:

  • email info@BaySuperNannies.com
  • send a quick inquiry on contact page
  • or call 650-576-3296 (serving San Francisco and Peninsula in San Francisco Bay Area).

You’ll be contacted within 1-2 business days for a free phone consultation (or email, if you’d prefer that) about your childcare needs.

1.  Starting The Search/Registration:  To start the search, families will chat with the agency about childcare needs, then sign the Client Agreement, and schedule an in-home registration meeting/consultation, or do a phone consult sign up- whichever you prefer.

  • discuss the current nanny market and the hiring process, and typical nanny duties, salaries, and benefits, etc.
  • provide tax and legal resources if needed,
  • provide a sample nanny work agreement,
  • proviide sample interview questions that you may use with any nannies that you meet/hire
  • answer any questions you may have
  • and most importantly, to listen to you and really understand your nanny needs.  We’ll review/complete the Family Application and help you form a “nanny wish list”/ job description that highlights what is most important to you and your family, to best draw the potential nanny matches that make sense for your needs.

A registration fee is charged to begin – now, a pro-rated registration fee of $75 first candidate, and $50 each additional candidate maxing at $325 – this new policy started in covid and works well for parents so they can meet a few candidates at a lower price if less then 6 candidates are interested at the time.  Example: 2 candidates, $125, 3 for $175, etc…

This retains the services of Bay Super Nannies, and includes careful matching with highly qualified nannies, and on-going placement support during your search…

Bay Super Nannies client families will tell you, it feels good to have someone “in your corner” and ready to help, every step of the way!

2.  Interview Process

  • Nanny candidate profiles will be emailed to you for your review.  These are nannies who have been stringently screened twice – first, completing an in-person interview, employment history and reference check, and written application, and then screened a second time specifically for your job requirements.
  • Bay Super Nannies can arrange initial interviews for you with the nannies who interest you, at your convenience, or you may reach out to them directly as BSN will have already given them your names and job details to expect to hear from you…
  • Bay Super Nannies will collect interview feedback, from both you and the nanny candidates.

3.  Possible Matches

When you meet a nanny whom you think is a possible match, then:

  1.  Set up one or more (up to 5) paid trial days/working interview, to really see the nanny in action (no agency temp fees!) and review her reference information thoroughly and you may re-call references, if desired, to ask specific questions
  2. make a probationary employment offer, either before, during, or after trial days (the background checks are submitted after an offer of employment is made & accepted, or earlier upon parent request)

{The background checks submitted are: Trustline (a California-run fingerprinting criminal background check – wwww.trustline.org), 7 year criminal background check for felonies and misdemeanors, DMV check, Sex Offender check, and Social Security scan.}

As an ADDED BONUS, in the event that a registered client family finds a nanny on their own and wants BSN to run a background check on that nanny, BSN can do so for a low fee…just one more peace of mind benefit for client families.

4.  Hiring and Start Date

Upon successful completion of working interview/trial days and return of background check results, if both parties wish to continue, then family and nanny will complete a work agreement together (sample provided by BSN for client’s use) and agree on terms and a start date.  BSN will also work with the nanny to get her current on TB test, Tdap vaccine, and CPR (usually parents reimburse nannies for any costs, directly) and will mail family a final packet with these items plus ID copy, and background check results for you to keep.

5.  Continuing Support and Guarantees

Bay Super Nannies will check in with both nanny and parents after the job starts, and client families can always reach out anytime if they have questions, concerns, or need advice.  Your long term success really matters!

You can feel secure into the future with the exclusive Double Guarantee – client families have both the One Year Guarantee and the 3 Month Refund Option Guarantee (see Fees/Guarantees for more info).
